Baton Relay

The West Coast Waters Baton Relay 2020 has been postponed due to current COVID-19 restrictions.

However, we are still aiming to hold a West Coast Waters Baton Relay in the future. The planning is in place and the event will be something you won't want to miss. You will be able to follow the Baton online and social, plus take part in the many events in locations across the west coast, once we confirm and launch the new plans.

Just think, one Baton, travelling from Glasgow, setting sail down the Clyde to Cumbrae, back to Greenock then going on a 5-month adventure across the west coast from Arran to Argyll, through the National Park (are you keeping up?), on to Glencoe, Lochaber and the Road to the Isles. From here it will visit the Small Isles then cross the waters to Skye and Raasay, over to Wester Ross and northwards to Ullapool, before setting sail across The Minch to Lewis, Harris, the Uists and Barra..

...(Oh, it's not finished the adventure yet, only half way through!)

The Baton will continue its journey, being hosted every step of the way by locals and making guest appearances at events with local communities and visitors. From Barra it will sail to Tiree and Coll. It will then be hosted on Mull and Iona, across to Morven and Ardnamurchan, before crossing Loch Linnhe and travelling south through mainland Argyll and on to Colonsay, Islay and Jura and back to the Slate Islands.

The final leg of the journey continues southbound from Oban through the Crinan Canal, down Loch Fyne and through the Kyles of Bute to finish back in the River Clyde.

(Phew....and now rest!)

What an epic journey we are planning!
